Transformed Podcast #266: Fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus!

Slide3

Let’s be honest … Jesus didn’t call His disciples to save Rome; He called them to save the people who were part of the Roman Empire … and so many more!

And thus, as our culture crumbles all around us, we have to make a decision … and it’s a decision of purpose.

Welcome to the final installment in this three part series entitled, What Now?

God’s not dead and Jesus’ mission hasn’t changed!

As we open our Bibles to Matthew 28, Dr. Matthew Lee Smith wants to remind us all of what we know so well: We are on the Mission of Jesus to reach the lost in OUR world in OUR day!

Let’s listen in as Pastor Matt shares the five directives we all must focus on as our culture crumbles around us!

And with that Dr. Smith wraps up this timely and challenging message from the Word of God. It is our sincere hope and prayer that you will choose to flesh out the words of the Bible in your daily life as a result of listening today.

Would you help us spread the word?

Could you take just a moment and contact a friend and share the link to this message and encourage them to listen as well? Thank you!

Christmas is right around the corner!

With Christmas only a couple of months away we know you would like to get your shopping done early AND give a meaningful gift this year to the ones you love.

Dr. Smith has written two daily devotionals that cover every day of the coming year … allowing you to give the gift that keeps on giving God’s Word and His encouragement in the lives of your family and friends.

In His Presence is a detailed look at walking with God through life’s ups and downs. Built around the premise that God welcomes you into His presence with joy and pleasure, In His Presence helps you see that the life of abundance can only be enjoyed when we take everything to the Lord and walk every day at His right hand.

In His Image explores God’s great love for humanity from every book of the Bible. From the creation of Genesis to the culmination in Revelation, God’s love shines through every page. Never is this ever clearer than in the times of Israel’s great betrayal of their God. His passionate pursuit of His children can be heard dripping from his voice as He calls them (and us by proxy) back to His shelter and protection.

You can order your copy In His Image or In His Presence from Amazon at the Eagles In Leadership website by clicking the appropriate link on the right hand side panel of the Eagles In Leadership website.

Today’s episode was recorded live in Commerce, California at the First Baptist Church and edited by Melodee Smith in La Puente, California.

And now, until next time, we are praying you would be filled with the hope of God so that you stand firm in the midst of our crumbling culture!

Transformed Podcast #264: When the Culture Crumbles!

Slide1

May you live in interesting times” is an English expression purported to be a translation of a traditional Chinese curse. Despite being so common in English as to be known as “the Chinese curse“, the saying is apocryphal, and no actual Chinese source has ever been produced.

We live in interesting times, don’t we?

Mike Powers introduces us to a new series of messages on the Transformed Podcast that have been ripped right out of the recent headlines.

With the Supreme Court’s decision in the Obergefell v. Hodges same-sex marriage case, Christ-followers have been re-evaluating what has become of the home they so dearly love, the United States of America.

In today’s first installment of this three part series, Dr. Smith talks to us about what we, the Church, will have to do if we are to bring about lasting change in our nation.

Let’s join him as he explains the three key actions every believer of Jesus needs to live out as our culture crumbles …

4 Simple Daily Prayer Targets for Family and Friends!

praying_hands[1]

As I pray daily, I ask the Lord of Life to work in the lives of my family and my friends … and those I routinely bump into and meet up with. As I seek to spread the light and love of Jesus, I am aware that I need God’s work in their heart if I am to be successful for Him. Therefore, I pray these 4 simple prayers each day for those in my spheres of influence. I pray that they will …

1) Surrender to Jesus completely.

Nothing is more damaging to one’s life and to the cause of Christ than a half-hearted commitment. It breeds so many distasteful feelings and realities. Total and complete surrender, a 100% commitment to Jesus, is all that will bring overwhelming love, deep joy, sustaining peace, empowering patience, disarming kindness, genuine goodness, undeserving faithfulness, healing gentleness, and protective self control.

2) Serve Jesus’ Kingdom wholeheartedly.

Focusing on the priority of one’s mission to make disciples of Jesus is the key that provides amazing significance in our lives. Apart from extending the Kingdom of God, there is little that can measure up to the eternal value of knowing someone not only has faith, but they have it more abundantly!

3) Celebrate His generosity effervescently.

There is nothing more disheartening than a discouraged, defeated Christ follower. Just as the apostle Peter about his post crucifixion experience after denying Jesus. However, once we realize that “the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you,” (Isaiah 30:18, ESV) life changes forever. On a DNA level, once we come to accept that God is for us and not against us, we will “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV)

4) Seek His lost courageously.

In a world when emptiness and pain are prevalent, we have countless opportunities to show our joy and purpose in meaningful ways throughout each day. Yet, it takes a verbal witness to create a disciple of Jesus. Such courage comes from the Giver of life as we hear Him say to us, “Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. GOD, your God, is with you every step you take.” (Joshua 1:9, The Message)

As you pray these four simple prayers for your family and friends, let me also encourage you to pray them for yourself. And may God answer quickly as you pray fervently!

Please share with us your experiences praying these prayers as the days unfold!

Transformed Podcast #263: God, Who Is Also Known As Yahweh Shamma, Yahweh Shalom and Yahweh Tsidkenu!

Names Of God

Life can be overwhelming at times, can’t it? If it wasn’t for the presence of God in our lives, how would we make it?

Welcome to another episode of the Transformed podcast.

In today’s study, which is part of a series on the Names of God, we are going to explore who God is through what He is called in the Bible.

As we delve into the names of God, understand that each name represents as aspect of God’s character and / or conduct. In other words, what God is called relates directly to who God is.

As Dr. Smith teaches his students at Bible Believers Christian College and Seminary in Hawthorne, California, he wants to remind you that the character and dependability of God is revealed through His names.

Let’s step into the classroom and join Dr. Smith as he applies the names of God to our daily lives of faith …

What are you reading this summer? If you would like to see the power of God work in real life difficulties, we suggest you read Hope Enabler, written by Dr. Smith’s wife, Melodee, this summer.

Hope Enabler is the real life story of one Christian parent’s struggle with a runaway child and the hope that God enabled her to have during the darkest moments of that struggle. Through God’s word and her own personal testimony Melodee Smith shows how her relationship with God was strengthened despite the perils she faced.

Melodee Joy Smith is a pastor’s wife ministering in Southern California. Alongside her husband, Dr. Matthew Lee Smith she’s counseled families, spoke at conferences and trained Christian leaders. She hopes this book can be a comfort to other Christians who are struggling with seemingly impossible situations.
