Have you ever run out of gas? So many of us have! It seems we love to test the limits of our car’s gas tank! When we do, we miss all sorts of opportunities in life because we are either waiting for someone to bring us more gas, or we are walking to the nearest station to fill up our gas can. Life is lost when our tank runs out!

In the final analysis, many of us are spiritually running on empty every day. And the reality is, lives are lost when our spiritual tank runs out! We miss so many of God’s opportunities to share the wonderful works of God because we are testing the limits of our spiritual tanks!

Dr. Joe Stowell on Transformational Leadership!

The Board of Trustees of Cornerstone University announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph M. Stowell as its 11th president recently. After an extensive search, the Board unanimously and enthusiastically affirmed the selection of Dr. Stowell at their annual board meeting on Jan. 26, 2008.

Dr. Matthew Lee Smith of Eagles In Leadership met up with Dr. Stowell in Universal City, CA on January 31st and talked about transformational leadership, his new position and the importance of seeking Christ in ministry.

Dr. Stowell has been, until this appointment, teaching pastor at Harvest Bible Chapel in suburban Chicago. Dr. Stowell served for eighteen years as the president of Moody Bible Institute. Recently he began partnering with RBC Ministries in radio, writing, and television productions. Listen as Mike interviews former Packer, Don Beebe. Don was House of Speed’s first client. His story of reaching and excelling in the NFL is inspiring. He moved from siding houses to playing a year of football for NAIA Chadron State College in western Nebraska, to setting speed and agility records in the NFL that still stand. A nine-year veteran
wide receiver, Don was the first person to play for six Super Bowl teams. He was instrumental in helping the Green Bay Packers achieve the 1996-97 NFL World Championship. He is legendary for snatching a tinge of victory from Buffalo’s defeat in Super Bowl XXVII, when he caught Leon Lett at the goal line and forced a fumble after a length-of-the-field race.

The Biblical illustration repeated often concerning our relationship with God is that of Shepherd and Sheep. God is our shepherd and we are ‘the sheep of his pasture.’ Joy is the result of staying close to the Shepherd.
This makes Christmas a special time for celebrating our joy in Christ, the shepherd of our souls. In fact, Christmas reminds us that our Shepherd cares for us – that is why He came and that is why He is coming again for us – to care for us!
