Is Your Praise and Worship Rocking The House?

Its very obvious that the Praise of Yahweh Rocked the Eternal Throne Room in Isaiah 6:1-4!

So, what about in our Houses of Worship?

For all too long we have been told to worship in quiet. As a pastor, I have been excoriated by members who don’t like the style, don’t like the energy, don’t like the volume … and who ALLOWED those drums and guitars on the platform?

I’m not advocating for loud worship all the time or for no reason. However, I am advocating for the removal of lifeless worship and the replacement with worship that stirs and is passionate and VOCAL!

Yes, read the text …

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.

Above it stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings. With two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

One cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.”

THE POSTS OF THE DOOR MOVED AT THE VOICE OF HIM WHO CRIED,, and the house was filled with smoke.” (Isaiah 6:1–4, MEV)

Now, we know this is just the PRAISE part of the worship! Imagine what happens when the music starts!

Is Our Joy Making Enough Noise?

When was the last time people OUTSIDE our building could hear the sound of our rejoicing far away WITHOUT AMPLIFICATION?

“And on that day they offered great sacrifices,
REJOICING because God had given them GREAT JOY.
The women and children also rejoiced.
THE SOUND OF REJOICING in Jerusalem COULD BE HEARD FAR AWAY.”
(Nehemiah 12:43, NIV)

When a Nation Rebels Against God

Isaiah 3:1-3 teaches us that rebellion to Yahweh on large scale leads to loss on larger scale.

After all, God doesn’t bless rebellion. And while He is patient and doesn’t want to see any perish, there is also His justice that brings Him to deal with lingering rebellion.

Just because a nation has given God their lives in the past does not mean that they can trade on the past virtue in their present sin.

Read the text here …

For now the Lord, the Lordof Hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stock and the store, the whole supply of bread, and the whole supply of water; the mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, and the prudent and the ancient, the captain of fifty and the honorable man, the counselor and the skillful artisan, and the eloquent orator.” (Isaiah 3:1–3, MEV)

Before God Gives Us More Than Enough!

* We all want more from God.
* We all want His blessing
* We all want to be liked and well known
* We all want to be promoted into something wonderful
* We all want to people to be generous to us
* We all want God’s protection from those who would curse us
* We all want to have the ability to help others “more than enough”

So, if that is true … and those are the longings of almost every person’s heart …

* Why don’t we have them?
* How do we get them?

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8, NIV)

• We have to OBEY GOD
• We have to GET OUT of where we are
• We have to GO WHERE GOD TELLS US to go

So …

• What are we not obeying that God has told us to do?
• Why haven’t we left where God has told us to leave?
• Where are we not going that God has told us to go to?

What say you?

When Problems Plague a Nation!

In one of the most familiar passages for most Bible students, King Solomon of United Israel dedicated the Temple he had built to the Lord. Then he prayed a passionate, well thought out prayer for mercy from God.

For 2 weeks they prayed, made offerings and rejoiced in God’s presence. After the event was over, the Lord came to Solomon and told him that He had agreed to answer Solomon’s requests. As He answered, He showed all of us four of the primary causes of major calamities that befall a people … God’s people!

The lesson from this familiar passage is clear:
A nation’s problems have more to do with the spiritual condition of His people than it does the spiritual condition of the lost within that country!

Read the passage here:

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13–14, NIV)

What surprises or touches you about this lesson?

Consequences of Rebellion Despite Repentance!

As a result of King Rehoboam’s unfaithfulness to the Lord, Shishak the king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem. King Rehoboam and the leaders of Jerusalem humbled themselves and God chose not to destroy them and give them deliverance from death.

However, as the passage unfolds, we learn a valuable lesson here:
Consequences linger long after repentance is sought and received!

Read the passage for yourself …

The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lordis just.” When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak. They will, however, become subject to him, so that they may learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands.” When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the Lordand the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including the gold shields Solomon had made. So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace. Whenever the king went to the Lord’s temple, the guards went with him, bearing the shields, and afterward they returned them to the guardroom. Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the Lord’s anger turned from him, and he was not totally destroyed. Indeed, there was some good in Judah.” (2 Chronicles 12:6–12, NIV)

I love planting seeds and watching things grow.  It’s so much fun for me to till the ground, plant, and then watch, tend and water my garden until there are onions and carrots and cabbage and tomatoes and squash, watermelons and … I know that whatever I plant will multiply as it grows.
